Medha Srigiri
Medha Srigiri is a professional Kuchipudi dancer with over 17 years of classical training and stage experience in India and the United States. Her foundation was built under Sujatha Vinjamuri and Shailaja Akula at the Kuchipudi Art Academy of Dance in St. Louis, and she continues her growth under the advanced mentorship of Kathyayini Kanak and Sai Venkata Gangadhar, a disciple of Sandhya Raju, in Hyderabad.
She has performed as a soloist at events such as the NY Kuchipudi Dance Festival, MODArts Collective Thread in New York City, Shilparamam and DHI Art Collective in Hyderabad, and her debut Rangapravesam in St. Louis. Medha has also played lead roles in ensemble productions including Vedas, Navagraha, Bhagavad Gita, Cosmic Shiva, and Krishnaveni. Her versatility spans from classical Kuchipudi to fusion choreography, having served as the director of the award-winning Case Kismat dance team.
Passionate about storytelling through dance, Medha aspires to bring Kuchipudi to global audiences by crafting innovative works rooted in tradition yet responsive to the present. When not dancing or working in healthcare operations, she enjoys running, traveling, playing piano, spending time with friends and family, and discovering new cities and restaurants.
Research & Thesis
Medha recently defended her Master’s thesis in Kuchipudi from the University of Silicon Andhra. Her research, “Evolving Pedagogies in Kuchipudi,” explores the interplay between traditional and modern teaching methods and offers a forward-looking framework for classical dance education. This academic inquiry complements her performance career and informs her evolving choreographic voice.
