Profile

Sriradha Paul is an excellent Odissi dancer , with over two decades of regular practice and experience in Odissi, she bridges India’s deeply rooted traditions with a global perspective. Her artistry integrates rigorous practice with scholarly inquiry, shaped by her roles as a dancer, educator, and researcher across continents. She has also contributed academically through her conference proceeding Out of the Temple, published in Choreographing Cultural Equality by Harmattan Publications, Paris (2024).

As a performer, Sriradha has presented her work at prestigious forums in India and worldwide, including in Belgium, Germany, Hungary, France, the Netherlands, the UK, the USA, China, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia. These engagements have enriched her choreographic language and artistic expression across diverse cultural landscapes.

Her professional journey includes roles with India’s Ministry of Culture at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre in Hungary, and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). A recipient of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Fellowship, she holds a master’s degree in Dance Anthropology. Additionally, she has received Junior and Senior National Scholarships, ICCR and SPIC MACAY empanelment, and Doordarshan grading, underscoring her dedication to promoting Indian dance globally.

Beyond performance, Sriradha engages in community-focused projects, including collaborations with human trafficking survivors at the US Consulate in Kolkata and arts-in-education initiatives. Her early training with Guru Poushali Mukherjee and her continued mentorship under Guru Bichitrananda Swain of Rudrakshya Foundation shape her artistic vision.

As a choreographer, Sriradha’s work explores the interplay between geographical and cultural contexts in shaping movement. Her extensive travels have enriched her choreographic language, allowing her to fuse Odissi’s traditional forms with global influences. Her debut group production as a choreographer, Yatra, conceptualized in collaboration with traditional Yogyakarta performers, highlights the rich maritime trade connections between Odisha and Indonesia. Premiered in 2022 at the Indo-Pacific Conclave in Kolkata, the production received critical acclaim in India and Indonesia.

Professional Experience:
Creative dance and choreographing in cultural program and many other inter school and college events. Was appointed as a coordinator for INDIA HERITAGE TRUST, Kolkata for 6 months. Worked as a former Project Assistant under Eastern Zonal Cultural Center, Kolkata under Govt. of India.  Worked and coordinated with 550 artistes in Adi Vimba, a festival of folk and tribal Art forms of West Bengal, Jalpiaguri organized by E.Z.C.C, Ministry of Culture. Govt. of India. He has conducted one-day workshop with Imani Gaston (visiting dancer from US) at American Center for the Access Kids. (2016)

Sriradha Paul is currently pursuing her  PhD in Critical Dance Studies at the University of California, Riverside in California, USA.
